About Me

Hello! My name is Ashley, I’m 20 years old and I just graduated in fall of 2021 from university with my undergraduate degree in Applied Psychology. I now work as an office manager in a finance and accounting business. I live in Montana, USA and I love horses, writing, history, God and America.I am the second child of four. I was homeschooled K-12 and I loved it! It’s helped me get a lot farther ahead a lot quicker than I would have otherwise. Kudos to Mom and Dad for figuring that out for me!! 🙂 I am also a hot-and-cold writer–I love to write but I seldom have the dedication to carry a project through. I did graduate with a minor in writing from college as well.

I am totally horse crazy! Although I’ve never owned a horse and I’ve only taken a few months worth of riding lessons, I’ve got a serious case of the horse bug. I read any horse book I can get my hands on, I’m building a model horse collection, I have a lot of horse books and I always visit the horse barns at fairs. I honestly spend most of my time there, especially at the little country fairs. 🙂

I also like to play chess, checkers, Monopoly, parcheesi, really any board game (gotta stay a child at heart!), I read a lot and when winter comes around I can’t wait to go skiing! I also love playing racquetball and I’ve tried out a bunch of different sports at college (I’ve done racquetball, volleyball, tennis, yoga, pilates, pickleball, badminton and weight lifting/exercise) and I’ve loved all of them except weight lifting/gym-type-exercise. It’s just so boring…… 😉

Skier bursting through a cloudy shower of snow

Art is one of my favorite hobbies, but the craze to paint or draw flickers on and off. And while my blog title is slightly deceiving, I keep it in the hopes that it will inspire me to start drawing more. 😉

Photography is a growing interest and I have a lot of fun seeing how I can construct pictures. My main camera is a pocket-sized point-and-shoot Canon, but I also use a larger Panasonic once in a while. 🙂

Music is very important to me. I play guitar and some piano and I really love singing, even though I don’t have an amazing voice. 🙂 Music is just so beautiful and wonderful for every single occasion; it brings color and life and joy to everything. My favorite genre (I think?!) is Celtic, though I also love classical, folk and oriental (Hindu & Chinese).

I am a passionate patriot: I love America with all my heart and I thank God I was fortunate enough to be born in this beautiful land. God grant Colombia, the gem of the ocean, a safe passage through the waters of discord to the shores of peace, brotherhood and Victory!

If you think of any way I can improve my writing or my blog, or just to say “Hi,” please leave me a comment and let me know. I love hearing from you all!

      1. Paradise is a very small town in eastern Montana. It is sort of in a valley but unfortunately I don’t think it is called Paradise Valley. It is about 30 miles away from St. Regis MT, 5 miles away from Plains MT, and 35 miles away from Thompson Falls, MT which really close to the Idaho border.
There is a very likely chance that we will be returning to Montana in the near future. I’ll keep you posted 🙂

    1. Thank you! I really didn’t do anything on purpose to make me ‘famous.’ I have had my blog for a year, and I have had many ups and downs. The thing that I think is most important, besides content, is consistency. If you post consistently, say, every week a new post, people will come to check you out every week. Another key is tagging. I tag my posts a lot. Also, I offer other content than just my essays. I think that time and consistency will make you famous. That’s all I did.

  6. Just reading about you, you love literally everything I like to do. I am 13. My favorite animals are horses. We just moved to Idaho and we now have the space to get horses! I love writing and I have even before I knew how to write! I would scribble on the lines of the paper. I paint and draw all the time! Just in these few days, I have drawn poppies and Lavender flowers.

Great job with your blog and keep moving forward!

  8. I only have one complaint about your otherwise awesome blog. Under School Essays, then High School, then Ninth Grade, then business (or biology, etc.), it goes on for so long that I can’t read what is next! xD Is there a way that you could move it so that it doesn’t go off my screen?

    Like

    1. I know!! It’s so annoying. I can’t make it any better. It’s a glitch in the theme that I can’t make it go to the left. 😦 But don’t worry about reading it, because it’s just subtitles for the Business, English I, Biology and P.F. This is what they are (in the order listed above): Business I, Autobiographies, The Study of Life, Personal Finance. Nothing important. Sorry I can’t fix that!

  9. My family had to go through hoops to sell food to people. Licenses and permits and inspections. Did you have to do that? I am only asking (not that I think we are competing!) because some of us spend money to be able to sell and it is kind of unfair. And also you could get in trouble if you don’t have certain papers. You may want to look into the requirements to sell baked goods online in your state.

    1. Hi Rebecca!!

Yes, I looked into that when I started this. I am currently using what called “Cottage industry”. I can sell to anyone as long as they don’t resell it. Thanks for your concern!!

      1. Nauvoo has these draft horse rides that are for free. They have three types of draft horses. They have Belgians, Percheron and I forget what was the other breed. I got absolutely no idea if you have been to Nauvoo. They have this show that is every day like at seven. If you have not been to Nauvoo you should go. It is fun over there. They do not really have a grocery store.

  13. Have you ever read Princess Academy or Rangers Apprentice or Brother Band Chronicles or Warriors. So far the most common book that I know is Harry Potter. I haven’t read Harry Potter myself. My favourite book is Warriors by Erin Hunter. It is about cats. I cannot figure out which one is my second favourite.

    1. The first two books of Ranger Apprentice is not so good. But if you get past those two books it gets way more interesting. To either understand Brotherband Chronicles completely, you need to read Ranger Apprentice. Ranger Apprentice ties in one of the Brotherband Chronicles books

P.S The Rangers have specially trained horses. They even can read the horses body language, but that is because the horse and Ranger are BFF’s. In Halt’s Peril it is hilarious.

          2. John Adams is a biography about the second president, the Secret of the Andes is about an Incan boy who takes care of llamas and how he has to find himself and what he really wants, Gentle Ben is about a boy who has an Alaskan brown bear for a pet, the Whalesong Trilogy is about whales and the ocean. It’s really, really awesome. And I guess you know Longfellow.
